Well, This is a first for me...

I was doing so random browsing super early in the AM on Wed 05/28. I found a cute Guess coat that was too big but looked like something I could alter myself, so I went ahead and bid. It was obvious from the listing that the seller was new and maybe didn't know exactly what she was doing, but the price was awesome, so I took the risk. Listing stated 1 day handling time, but as I am in South Carolina and it's currently around 100 degrees here, I am not in a rush to get the coat I paid immediately, seconds after I won the item. On Sunday the 30th I received this message from the seller: "I'm so sorry about the wait. I no longer have that bank card that I had on my paypal and I couldn't change it to my boyfriends card. So I had to transfer money to his account and print label from there. Ill do it in the AM ASAP. THANKS!!!!" (I do realize Mon was a holiday she she would not be shipping out the next morning) So, I figure with Priority shipping, I should have it soon (ok, now I'm getting excited about fixing this coat to fit!) But, I have tons of life stuff going on, brother in town from overseas, his fiance having a baby (yesterday!) and I pretty much forget about the coat. She left me positive feedback on the 31st (just noticed that). Very early today I check my won items and see that she has refunded me in total. I check the PayPal transaction and she has not included any note/reason for doing so. She hasn't sent a message either. I send her a friendly message asking if there is an issue with the item/her PayPal account. No reply yet, it's been just a little while. So.... I'm not exactly a newbie, but this is new to me. If i get the coat, I'll certainly re pay her, but who knows if it's on the way or not (was never marked as shipped, no tracking #). I guess I'm just in the mood to discuss this transaction because honestly, as a seller, I wouldn't dream of doing 90% of what has gone on so far... is this common? In all my ebay buying (on this ID and 2 others) I have had a grand total of ONE issue, so maybe I'm just lucky..."When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before." ~Mae West|||If the coat does not show up, and no explanation from your Seller, I would file Non Performing Seller report, I have been told this only generates a form letter to you, But I would think if eBay received too many complaints on one Seller they might do something. Then leave a NEG and 1's in each DSRDelivery Confirmation is confirmation of delivery, not tracking.|||Your seller does not know what she is doing. She has only 26 feedback for selling, from 3+ years ago. She probably found out the shipping for that coat will cost more than the total of item price plus S&H that she charged. $4 for Priority Medium Flat Rate Box? Even if the coat fits in the box, the postage is more than $10.50.|||Then leave a NEG and 1's in each DSR Or, you could be honest and leave appropriate DSR's for the categories that apply. Not a very popular view among revenge-hungry people who get off on dishing out punishment, but honesty is actually an option.|||||||||So you have been refunded in full and are still expecting the coat? I would pull your seller's contact info and give them a call. Link I would ask why you were refunded and what is the problem?|||"Item as described = You received NOTHING > Can it get any slower? Shipping and handling charges = Item was NEVER shipped >> So they are charging too much!" (huh? that's not logical) These are more about revenge than honesty. I asked more than one Ebay rep and DSR's are for actual transactions that are followed through on - so that the actual item is rated against the description, and the acual time it took to recieve an item is rated against what was posted etc.Need a website fast?|||These are more about revenge than honesty. I asked more than one Ebay rep and DSR's are for actual transactions that are followed through on - so that the actual item is rated against the description, and the acual time it took to recieve an item is rated against what was posted etc. If eBay did not want them filled out, They would not put them out there. Like if the item has FREE shipping, the Shipping and handling charges star would be a 5 pre filled in.Delivery Confirmation is confirmation of delivery, not tracking.|||No, I asked about that too and it's because many times the buyer wants an upgrade in shipping after the auction is over, or they end up buying more items, which isn't necessarily free shipping anymore - so Ebay has to allow for those changes - hence, it's not be pre-filled.Need a website fast?|||I would pull her contact info.|||Well, tried to pull contact info yesterday, the phone # is no longer hers, or whoever answered was lying, but considering it was an elderly man, I'm just going to assume that it isn't her number anymore. He had never heard of the person. Or ebay, haha. I sent her another message, but she still has not responded to the first message, and that was 3 1/2 days ago. As far as leaving a bunch of bad DSRs, I do feel like that is a revenge thing myself. As a seller, I have certainly made mistakes before, but thank god the buyers have always been super nice about it and we worked it out. I would only rate communication simply because THAT is the issue that is making me mad. If she needed more for shipping, I could have sent her a few more dollars (then I could have appropriately rated the shipping cost DSR), but I'm sure the coat could have been sent in a priority tyvek for 5 or 6 dollars... I know I lost out on shipping big time on my first few sales... but that is my fault for not knowing what I was doing, and I took the loss and sent the package. It just makes me so angry that she is ignoring my messages and didn't have the customer service skills to at least include a note with the refund as to why it was being issued."When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before." ~Mae West|||Report to eBay that the contact information is bad/wrongDelivery Confirmation is confirmation of delivery, not tracking.|||"Well, tried to pull contact info yesterday, the phone # is no longer hers, or whoever answered was lying, but considering it was an elderly man, I'm just going to assume that it isn't her number anymore" Report as invalid contact info here to Ebay Link|||No need to be/get angry, just file the NPS report with Ebay Link Report the invalid contact info (link above) and leave appropriate Neg feedback without mentioning Ebay or Paypal. All of the above, will impact the seller's ability to pull these antics in the future.

Paypay payments not showing up to seller

At least half of my last 13 bids won have had not had the payments show up to the seller. I have made the payments, and they are listed on paypal as completed transactions, with payment info. What is going on. eBay will then send me a email-notice that the seller has reported non-payment from me, the buyer. Then I must respond to the false stayments made by the seller because the paypal payment does not show up, they have bad accounting methods of tracking sales if they don't get a email from paypal or eBay, I then have to go to my paypal account and copy the transaction information showing that it was paid and credited to the seller. I risk having bad feedback or having eBay close-put a hold om my account. I have not had a responce from anyone. I have tried to post to the eBay paypal forum without sucess. Paypal has no easy to ask cuestions short of a phone call to them. The email forms have only predetermed subject and or questions. This sucks. Paypal and eBay should not allow this to happen. Customer service? NOT. IF this type of thing is not fixed I will have to not use paypal and or eBay!!!!! Joyce and Richard eBay bayers. PS: I use eCheck or USPS money orders. No credit cards that the sellers hate to use.|||Are you using eBay's checkout, or are you using Send Money? If this is happening to you a lot, it may be operator error. Anger is one letter short of Danger. Choose your words carefully. The words "eBay" and "logic" do not belong in the same sentence. KKC #21|||I had a simaler experience with paypal as a seller. I had a few items set up with an incorrect paypal account. I fixed it by advising my buyer to pull their payments out of the incorrect paypal account and then I invoiced them for the amount from my correct account. I did three sales like this within a 24 hour time span.|||momma*g The most likely answer for you is: Your sellers are not logging on to PayPal to look at their accounts to see if they have been paid. They are relying on email notifications and/or their My eBay pages for payment information. There is currently a major glitch going on and they aren't getting the emails. Advise your sellers to logon to PayPal for accurate payment information. IF you receive an Unpaid Item Dispute, simply respond in the dispute console that you have already paid and enter the PayPal transaction number. Do NOT reply to the email, you need to respond in the dispute console.|||chrishux and Rustic The buyer's PayPal account wouuld show payments to an incorrect email address as Unclaimed. Not Completed. Since the OP's show as Completed they have gone through to the seller's account and there is no email problem.|||momma*g If you do receive an Unpaid Item Strike, eBay will remove it on appeal. do not worry.|||IF the sellers are logging on to PayPal, and still not seeing the payments, have them check their balances for the dollar amount being added and have them call PayPal's toll free number. There is another glitch but it is much less common than the sellers simply not logging on.|||EBAY is having problems. I received a UPI message for a item on June 10. The item ended on June 5 and I made pay-pal payment on it within 22 hours of the closing of the auction. Yes they removed the UPI but I want them to get the problem fixed. I shoul have never received the message.|||. PS: I use eCheck or USPS money orders. No credit cards that the sellers hate to use.|||

"Bidder" Relationship with the Seller? Lessons Learned!

I am new to eBay. And I have been losing bids to "Buyers" under unusual circumstances (transaction smells). For example, bidders that show at the last minute or bidders that go above and beyond the value of the item. So recently, I have found out that you can click on the ID of the bidder and find out their "relationship" with the seller. So, I have stopped bidding on items where the highest bidder do 3% or more of their bidding with the respective seller. In some cases, I have seen percentages as highest 93-95%. Interestingly enough, the same items are re-listed by the original seller (sometimes) shortly after the higher bidder has supposedly bought the item. Try it! It is true!|||Last minute bidders are called "snipers" and are VERY common here at eBay. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of successful auctions have at least one snipe bid. I had a recent auction that had 4 (with zero bids prior to the last few minutes). There's also a long history of people overbidding on eBay. It's one of the reasons sellers use auctions in the first place. So, neither of these activities are necessarily suspicious. The 93%-95% activity would depend on how much activity that buyer/bidder had, though it's sure to raise an eyebrow. Relisting would only be suspicious if the item was OOAK or exceedingly rare. Many commodity sellers have multiples of the items they list.|||Showing up to buy at the last minute is common (called sniping). Going above the value of the item could be currency conversion, ignorance, or need to get something now instead of trying for a good deal. I'm not saying the things you've observed can't be suspicious by the way. I just didn't know if you were aware of sniping, etc. I buy most things buy it now or within the last minute or two myself. I think some people actually have programs that snipe for them, though I don't have any experience with those.|||"and find out their "relationship" with the seller" Huh???? Don't think so....|||If you are losing because someone bids at the last minute(w a higher bid than you) or w a higher bid than you that is the nature of bidding.High bid wins no matter when placed. To be suspicious it would have to be an underbidder bidding enough to drive your bid to its max without actually going over it-leaving you the winner .It may not be your fault but it is your responsibility Silver rule "do not do to others what you would not like to be done to you"||||||Going above the value of the item could be currency conversion, ignorance, or need to get something now instead of trying for a good deal. Or it could also be that the other bidder simply values the item more than you do.friends Director,|||Some people don't live close to big chain stores and are willing to pay extra not to drive 1-2 hours to get the item. Instead they pay over price but have it delivered to their door saving both time and money(driving expenses).|||You should also take into consideration that some sellers have worked very hard over the years to build a loyal customer base and so they will sometimes have several purchases from one bidder. When my mother first started buying on ebay many years ago she had some bad experiences. There are only a select few sellers that she trusts now. In any given time period she might have as high as 100% of her purchases with one seller. It is always good to keep an eye on things because there are cheats and scammers on ebay but most of the time I think there are very logical explanations for the behavior you have mentioned.|||may be best to just shop at wal-mart. there you don't have to worry about your bid being to low . or some silly person paying what they believe the item is worth. at times i've only bought from one seller for a few months as i buy to resell and they have the best items. so it'd show 100% . which shows you only that i like that seller's items. your concerns are silly in most cases. just bid your max and if out id look at other's items.|||I snipe and do quite well at it. I love one particular seller, so I make quite a few purchases (post cards) at the last second. I recently paid WAYYY TOOO MUCH for a cat post card because I wanted to frame it...as art goes, it was priceless to ME. Nothing wrong with over-paying...|||||||||cause your new, I'll clarify for you.... sniping is just waiting to bid till the last minute so that your bid doesn't drive up a newbie's bid thereby causing you to have to bid again reactively.... keeps you sane and keeps your bid at the max you were actually willing to pay...Friends just call me Crazy. Or you can call me Ms. Crazy.

Have not recieved my item yet????

I bought a shirt on 5/22. I waited about 2 weeks and never received my shirt so i emailed the guy saying i never received the item. A few days later he responds with this. "Sorry for the delay. My child was born early and that caused they delay. We shipped your item on May 24 via first class mail. Have you received it now?" I respond back same day saying i never received the item. Now, 6 days later no response. I have sent 2 emails since. Should i file a complaint or be more patient? What do you think?|||This is the auction btw. Link|||I'd say that if you don't get it by Monday, (6/14) file an INR (item not received) claim. Generally, people say to wait 3-4 weeks to allow their item to arrive (domestically - international shipping is a different story). You have 45 days (after the date you pay I believe it is) to file a claim, so you do still have lots of time. USPS first class is usually efficient so if it really did get shipped 5/24 you should have it by now. It's a red flag they aren't communicating with you anymore, however if the baby story is true they may just be really busy. Did they give you a DC #?(my posting ID)|||Seller currently has over 900 auctions running, so they obviously are still doing Ebay even with a new early baby. Agree wait until Monday afternoon, if nothing has been received, then file the INR with Paypal. Seller will need to prove delivery.|||Premature baby, yeah right. That's a new one, I'm gonna have to try it sometime.~James~|||Yes, you should. I filed dispute after 4 days stated on the listings and my prediction was right the seller is fraud!! Don't waste your time waiting!!

Bidding procedures

I would like to know how I can be out bid as soon as I post my bid. Four times I have submitted a higher bid than the last posted bid and was told instantly that I had been out bid. I feel like I am bidding against myself.|||its a spooky feeling. The items sits and sits, no bids, it's a zero for HOURS or DAYS and I go to bid.... and BAM someone bids at that same exact instant.... I don't know what to tell you. Someone bid the same instant you did. Its happened to me too, it's a bit freaky, like there's someone looking over your shoulder, or a robot in the software bidding against you.... but it doens't happen often enough to be able to holler foul...Friends just call me Crazy. Or you can call me Ms. Crazy.|||The other bidder/s has/have placed a maximum bid that is higher than what was showing. Then as you placed a bid, eBay automatically use as much of their maximum to keep them on top. This will continue as other bids are placed until the first bidders maximum is reached, or the listing ends, with them as the winner. If you click on the word bids on the listing, then on the bid list page click on show automatic bids, I am sure you will see the other bidder placed a bid earlier than you did. It was frustrating until I "got it"! crazy - can you give us one of these closed auctions? It's not impossible for two people to bid simultaneously but i think you're just not seeing the previous proxy.~James~|||You can look at the times when the bids were posted, and also expand the display to see any automatic proxy bids. That will tell you how you were outbid.|||It simply means some other bidder has bid higher than the maximum bid you have placed each time you bid. Example I am bidder # 1 I place a high /max bid of $15 on an item. You are bidder #2 and bid $ $3 you are auto out bid. You then bid $5 again are out bid, you bid $7 again are out bid. Unless your next bid is OVER my max bid of $15 you will be outbid . On your next bid if you bid $16.01 then you would become the high bidder. DON'T nibble bid as you are doing. Decide the very most you are willing to pay for the item, bid your max once at at the end of the auction.

Bought a lemon

I just purchased a car on ebay. On the way home the moonroof wouldnt close & the radiator over heated. What are my rights as a buyer?||||||If this was for the $849 1087 Caddy, you're out of luck with the Vehicle Purchase Protection.|||First what is the auction number? Ebay Motors is very different than buying Ebay core items. Without seeing the auction, we can not advise you properly. Ebay offers a very limited Vehicle Protection Program called VPP. Unless the vehicle qualifies, all conditions are met there is no coverage for this type of issue. EBM VPP Link When you buy a used vehicle, anything can go bad at any point. Expect to have to make repairs to any used vehicle within the first 2 years.|||1987 = 23 year old vehicle does NOT qualify for VPP. I do think the seller kind of fluffed the car a little. But you are right, "YOU BOUGHT IT"! I don't see where the seller was twisting your arm to bid on it. The feedback you left is actionable and could end you up in court.|||HELLO The time to check for problems is before you pay for a car. Please advise im kind of worried for a purchase

I bought an item from a 0 feedback seller and im kind of worried. Seller uploaded a USPS form of dispatch to assure me item has been posted can you guys confirm its genuine? i live in Greece thanks ">|||Don't panic...at least not yet. I tracked your package using the Customs # at the top of the dispatch sheet (the long number starting with "CQ") at USPS.com. This is the result: "Label/Receipt Number: CQ34 1197 230U S Class: Priority Mail International Parcels Service(s): International Parcels Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on June 9, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later. " This means is that 3 days ago, your Seller printed a label and paid the postage for it. There is no way for you to tell at this point that he actually posted it or not, except by accepting his word that he has. For example, I have shipped 10 items to various countries from the US in the past 2 weeks. 9 went by First Class Mail to Canada, Europe, & Australia. 1 went by Express Mail to Russia. The only one that shows I actually mailed it is the Express Mail package. All the rest say the same thing your tracking information says above. However, I KNOW that 2 of my First Class International Mail packages have actually been delivered, as my customers have told me so & left positive feed back. Priority Mail International (which is how your item was marked for shipment) and First Class Mail International are treated the same way by the US post office. Usually you will not see any tracking information until it reaches the destination country, and only then if your country's post scans it upon arrival. Know that it could take 30 - 40 days before you receive your package or have any information that it has in fact been mailed to you. It may take about 1 or 2 weeks to reach Greece, but then it will go to customs. I won't go into the merits of the dispatch form itself, but it looks genuine. HOWEVER, if you have not received your package by day 41... contact your local customs office and post office using the customs number on the dispatch form. If they don't have it, send your Seller a nice note letting him know the package is still no where in site, and you will be opening a case with Ebay simply to protect your right to be refunded should it be "lost in the mail." Give your Seller the benefit of the doubt, but do protect yourself. You only have 45 days FROM THE DAY YOU PAID FOR THE ITEM (I go by the day the auction ended myself, just to be safe) to open a case. After that neither Ebay nor PayPal will help you if you never receive your item. If the item shows up after you open your case, then close your case and let Ebay know you received it (remember, your Seller will know if it is delivered ... if it shows up AFTER Ebay reimburses you...do the right thing and pay your Seller again because you got what you bought. You have 60 days to leave feedback, so wait until you get your item before you do. I'm sure it is on its way...but you are right to ask for confirmation. Keep checking on it by putting that customs number into the "track a package" box on the USPS.com site I referenced above. If someone scans it along the way to your house it will show in the box...it does take a while for this information to show up so don't worry. Just keep the timeline above in mind as a last resort. Good luck!|||We have no way of knowing once the package leaves USA and enters the Greek postal system. Just wait about 40 days and if nothing is received, file the INR with Paypal.
