Logitech Harmony 700 Universal Remote

A few weeks ago I posted a warning about purchasing this remote without the AC adapter. This problem can be solved if you have a battery charger which can charge.AA batteries. More important than that you must have the proper USB cable or the remote is useless. The USB cable is the link between the AC adapter and the remote. and more importantly is used to program the remote. The USB cable for this particular remote fits only this remote and other Logitech remote USB cables will not work with this remote. You cannot purchase the AC adapter or USB cable from Logitech. Tonight I noticed a listing for one of these without the USB cable or AC adapter which said that the remote had been tested working and I wondered what that meant. The remote will power on if the batteries are charged but without the USB cable there is no way of finding out if the remote can be programmed. I know this because I purchased one without the AC adapter (my mistake} and it was sent with the wrong USB cable so I had no way of finding out if the remote is fully functional.|||The Harmony 700 uses a standard Micro USB, not the Mini the other models use. So you can purchase a Micro USB as well as use any Cell Phone charger terminated in the Micro USB connector, in place of Logitech AC charger. It should be a Micro-A USB type if you want to use it with Logitech's AC adapter, else, it can be either either Micro-A or B for PC data interface only. You should find an A or B letter moulded into any Micro USB cable and may find one lying around at home if you have a fairly new Cell Phone data cable. Most small new electronic equipment, cell phones, etc, are migrating to the new Micro-USB Standard. See Wikipedia for more info.
